Airmail has the capability of creating multiple customized rules to suit any incoming or outbound filtering scenario. Basically, the rules in Airmail work similar to the rules in any other email client, using a series of IF/THEN options which can be tailored to suit your specific needs.
There are several possible rules that can be created by you to suit your needs, therefore, each part of the rules window is explained in the following article.
Rules are located in 'Menu Bar > Window > Rules' as depicted in the following image.

Box #1
This box is the list of the rules that you have made in Airmail and each rule shows, whether it is Enabled/Disabled and saved to iCloud.

Here you can add/remove the rules in Airmail.

Here you can name your current selected rule from the list.

To ensure that a rule is working/active in real time, it should be enabled, otherwise disabled. and '

Here you can define the 'IF' condition, which constitutes of total four combinations that are discussed here.
Combination #1: 'All Incoming'
This states that all the parameters which are set in box #6 from the above picture, should be true for the incoming messages to activate the 'THEN' condition, otherwise, the rule will return 'Zero' results.
Combination #2: 'All Outgoing'
This states that all the parameters which are set in box #6 from the above picture, should be true for the outgoing messages to activate the 'THEN' condition, otherwise, the rule will return 'Zero' results.
Combination #3: 'Any Incoming'
This states that any of the parameters which are set in box #6 from the above picture, should be true for the incoming messages to activate the 'THEN' condition, otherwise, the rule will return 'Zero' results.
Combination #4: 'Any Outgoing'
This states that all the parameters which are set in box #6 from the above picture, should be true for the outgoing messages to activate the 'THEN' condition, otherwise, the rule will return 'Zero' results.

Here you set the remaining parameters for the 'IF' condition of which the first one should always define one account on which the 'THEN' condition should act.
Box #7
Here, you can define the 'THEN' condition which signifies the action which should be taken on the messages which lie in the corresponding 'IF' condition.
Box #8
Here you can 'Reset' the rule which will dismiss all the changes you have made to the rule to the default values, so that you can rebuild the rule if needed.

Box #9You can see the preview of the messages that lie in the set 'IF' conditions and choose if you want to apply the rule to the previous messages (the messages which are already present in the database of the account). Please refer to the picture below to see the preview window.

By pressing 'Save', the rule gets saved in the rules book.
